A flatpack chair made from OSB.
Work & Rock
This project, developed in collaboration with another talented student in my Product II class, involved creating a flat-pack rocking chair optimized for workspace use—featuring a more upright posture. Using Fusion 360, we modeled the chair to fit within a 1-inch flat-pack thickness requirement, utilizing only a 29” x 47” sheet of Oriented Strand Board. The parts were precision-cut on a waterjet and assembled using zip ties. While the chair was innovative in its compact design and assembly method, it proved less successful functionally, highlighting valuable lessons in ergonomics and material constraints.
