The Lifecycle of a Pair of Jeans
This project visualizes the journey of a single pair of jeans through a non-linear, cradle-to-grave timeline. Drawing inspiration from Sankey diagrams, the design illustrates how materials and energy flow through each phase—Harvest, Assembly, and ultimately, Grave or New Life. Rather than a straightforward progression, the layout captures the tangled realities of fast fashion, circularity, and personal use.

Rather than treating clothing as disposable, this work encourages viewers to see each item as part of a larger story—one of resource use, human labor, cultural trends, and personal memory. It challenges the notion of fashion as a short-term commodity and instead visualizes how garments continue to hold value beyond their initial use. The result is a dynamic, data-informed narrative that challenges us to rethink the true lifecycle of what we wear.
